I never thought
I'd be sitting in a hospital
listening to time go by
second by second.
I never thought
I'd see her in that much pain
with no way of escaping it.
I never thought
that of all people
I'd want to claw out
the eyes' of doctors and nurses.
I never thought
I'd want to stay in a hospital
for a longer period of time.
I never thought
I'd have to fight the world
to be by her side.
But if I have to
I will do this forever
because, to me,
she's well worth the fight.

I wrote his while I was sitting next to my best friend who was in the hospital recovering from the surgeon's mishap. Before, they said it was a simple and easy surgery. After, they said she'd never be able to use her left arm. I've never forgiven the surgeon.

the line of never thinking of wanting to stay in a hospital for longer is so so true. my mother was in the hospital this last year and it was strange wanting to sit in a hospital for so long but it was so worth it.
